To ensure that you get the most out of your pool we would suggest that you follow five essential steps in basic pool care.

Circulation

Circulate the water in your pool for at least 10 hours per day, preferably during the day time, this will make it more difficult for algae and bacteria to form, it also will assist in filtration and removal of debris from the pool.

Filtration

Check the skimmer basket regularly and ensure that it does not clog up with debris, especially for outdoor pools. The filter should be backwashed regularly, preferably once a week, this process will remove debris trapped on or in the pool filter. Refer to the manufacturers guidelines for instructions on how to perform this operation for your filter.

Cleaning

Algae and bacteria will begin to grow in areas that have little or no circulation. Brushing is a must, even if you use an automatic pool cleaner or retain a maintenance service, so brush and vacuum the walls and floor of your swimming pool regularly.

Testing

Certain pool elements must be measured and adjusted regularly. These include, pH, free available chlorine, total alkalinity and calcium hardness, so having a good test kit is essential.

Proper Water Maintenance

Ideally you should be able to enjoy swimming in crystal clear water, with this 4 point plan from our pool care products supplier, you will be able to achieve this with a minimum of fuss.

a) Disinfect the water with a Pool Sanitiser/Chlorine

b) Remove water impurities with a regular Shock Treatment

c) Ensure that the acid/alkaline water balance is maintained with a Water Balance product

d) Prevent or cure water problems with the correct recommended products and regular cleaning.
